- it helps in the coping of mental illnesses
- it is effective in rehabilitation of memory loss diseases
- it has a positive effect on the general functions and inner-workings of the brain
PLAN OF ACTION
- Music therapy should be more attainable for all.
- How?
- Implement stronger and larger music therapy programs in places such as hospitals and schools.
- For example at Boston Children’s Hospital they offer a varying array of music therapy, and have a numerous and successful staff to provide it (“Music Therapy”, n.d.).
- Attainable
- Insurance covers it (Boston Children's)
- Public Schools = Public Education, which is free
- Possible by hiring someone to work part-time as a school music therapist
- Available in either music or guidance departments
- Why?
- Music therapy makes hospital life more enjoyable due to it’s innovative and interesting practices.
- Effective if placed in high schools, as music therapy has been proven to lower anxiety levels (Magee, 2007)
